Gauge 3ft. Incorporated 26/5/1884. Opened 2/5/1887. Between Tynan and Maguiresbridge, both on the GNR. 37 track miles, 7 locos, 13 passenger, 7 other passenger, 10 goods vehicles in 1911. Closed 31/12/1941.
Rolling stock: (3ft gauge): 8 new locos built
1886-1928 (6 Sharp Stewart 0-4-2Ts- Mks. Nos. 3369 and 3370
of 1886 and 3371-4 of 1887), 1 Hudswell Clarke 0-4-4T- Mks.
No. 914 of 1907, 1 Walker Bros. Steam tractor Mks. No. 114
of 1928 - sold to CDRJC). 2 Diesels (a bogie railcar and a
4 wheel loco) built Walker Bros., 1932 and 1933. 1
secondhand Hudswell Clarke (Mks. No. 698) was acquired from
C&VBT, rebuilt in 1936, carrying a plate to this
efffect, and given the no.4. Engine names of the Sharp
Stewarts were Caledon, Errigal, Blackwater, Fury,
Colebrooke and Erne while the Hudswell Clarke was
Blessingbourne.Coaches: 13 bogie tramcar type and two
convertible bogie cattle wagons. Originally first and third
classes, but first class abolished in 1928. At closing, it
possessed 5 steam locos, 2 diesel units, 12 passenger
coaches, 5 brake vans, 2 horse boxes, 124 wagons of various
kinds and 5 service vehicles.
Works: "Fair sized" works at Aughnacloy.
Livery: Locos green (excepting No.4 of 1936) and
had their names and nos. in gilt characters on the tank
sides and below the headlight and on the centre of the back
of the bunker. The passenger stock was crimson lake
[Fayle]. After 1936 red (in 1934 No. 7 was painted dark
red, and subsequently applied to other vehicles). Coaches
dark red.

1887-89 R.H.Weatherburn, 1889-1922 G.F.Akerlind, 1922-1940

Signalling: Wise train staffs. Two locked
compartments either end each with three train permits, one
set for either direction of running. These permits took the
place of tickets when one or more trains were running in
the same direction, but the permits were replaced in the
staff after use. Passing loops were at Aughnacloy,
Ballygawley, Clogher and Fivemiletown.
